White Hart Lane
Under 2.5 goals to be scored at 5/4 odds
Tottenham might still be living in a world of ecstasy after their fabulous win over West London rivals Chelsea when Aston Villa come to visit them in a FA Cup third round fixture on Sunday afternoon. Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Chelsea ended their 13 match winning streak and denied the Blues a share in the record of Arsenal’s 14 match winning streak. The victory also lifted the Lilywhites to the third position in the standings as their North London rivals Arsenal dipped to fifth. Delle Alli scored twice in the match as Spurs gave minimal chance of a comeback to Antonio Conte’s men, who seemed to have run out of ideas to avoid Spurs’ steamrolling.
Aston Villa are currently going through a spell of resurgence after Steve Bruce took the helm. Villa managed to win only one out of twelve games before Bruce’s arrival and seemed destined to go down at the end of the season. Bruce guided the Villans to victory in seven of their last fourteen games and stamped out the relegation threat to bring them in contention of a play-off berth.
PREDICTION
Tottenham and Aston Villa are two of the most successful clubs in FA Cup history, having won the title eight and seven times, respectively. Tottenham are currently one of the most in-form teams in England and any teams would consider themselves unlucky to have drawn against them this early in the tournament. Spurs are no short of confidence as they have won seven out of their last eight matches and will be the favorites ahead of the clash with Aston Villa. Steve Bruce has done a praiseworthy job at Aston Villa so far but his side are still performing below par outside Villa Park. Aston Villa have lost three of their last four away matches and they failed to salvage a point at Cardiff last Monday when they suffered a 1-0 loss to relegation strugglers Cardiff City last Monday. The Villans have scored the least number of away goals in the Championship, so we are not expecting them finding the net at White Hart Lane. Tottenham will probably get the job done and progress to the next stage of the competition.
