Home Park, Plymouth
Both Teams to Score – NO at 4/5 Odds
Everyone both nationally and internationally, will be firmly focused on Home Park on Wednesday. Having failed to get the job done against Plymouth in the FA Cup 3rd Round first time round Liverpool now have a long journey to the south coast. At least it will be a festival atmosphere at Home Park when the League Two side welcome giants Liverpool on Wednesday evening!
This comes after Plymouth, second in League Two, ie leagues below Liverpool in the English football pyramid, held out for a 0-0 draw at a packed Anfield. Yes, Liverpool started the tie with what was reported to be their youngest ever side for a competitive match but at the end there were several multi-million pound footballers on the pitch, including substitutes Adam Lallana, Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino.
After the FA Cup fixture against Plymouth, Liverpool were beaten by Southampton 1-0 in the EFL Cup semi-final first leg and then held to a draw by Manchester United in the weekend Premier League fixture. The Reds were thrashing their opponents at one point in the season, but they are now searching for their first win in five matches.
Plymouth vs Liverpool Predictions
Both Teams to Score – NO at 4/5 Odds
Plymouth Argyle are promotion contenders in League Two and are currently second in their league standings. They are coming on the back of a 4-2 win at home against Stevenage and are unbeaten at home in the last 5 games.
It is expected Klopp will select a similar side to the one which was on duty at Anfield and, even if he does so, Liverpool will be hot favourites.
But there is absolutely no pressure on Argyle and who knows what could happen if they got the first goal of the game.
Plymouth are huge underdogs, but they will have the 12th man advantage with the home fans on the background. They are under no pressure to deliver a result and every player will be hoping to give their best on the field. And if the Reds start with the same side as in the previous clash at Anfield, an upset is very much on the cards.
