Champions Leicester travel to Old Trafford in Saturday’s early kick-off, looking to build on their recent improved form and continue Manchester United’s recent slump.

Half time/Full time – Manchester United/Manchester United 13/8 – This was how last month’s clash panned out and with United holding home advantage and looking to get on the front foot after a string of below par performances, these odds look favourable.

Over 4.5 goals 5/1 – This is a game which could have goals in it with United looking to appease their home crowd, with Leicester always good value to score at least once away from home with their pacey break.

Manchester United v Leicester City Tips

Manchester United vs Leicester Tips

Football tips: Recent form

The two’s early season form could barely contrast more. The two met in the curtain-raising Community Shield match, which United edged 2-1. Jose Mourinho’s side then went onto win their opening three league games before losing back-to-back league matches and a Europa League tie, while after a sluggish start, Leicester have now won two of their last three league games and secured a convincing 3-0 win in Bruges in the Champions League.

Predictions: Head to head

Last month’s meeting at Wembley should be a good judge of how this game might pan out – with Leicester’s usual game plan of soaking up pressure and playing on the counter-attack likely to feature once more. Mourinho’s side might not be as free-flowing and dominating as they would like, but have plenty of players capable of moments of individual brilliance.

Leicester’s memorable 5-3 triumph over United two seasons ago was their only win against the Red Devils in their last 15 meetings – the previous time they’d tasted victory over United was in January 1998.

Both league games last season finished 1-1, and a win for either on Saturday could generate massive momentum for the weeks ahead.

Betting tips

Half time/Full time – Manchester United/Manchester United 13/8 – This was how last month’s clash panned out and with United holding home advantage and looking to get on the front foot after a string of below par performances, these odds look favourable.

Over 4.5 goals 5/1 – This is a game which could have goals in it with United looking to appease their home crowd, with Leicester always good value to score at least once away from home with their pacey break. United have conceded five in their last two home games while Leicester shipped four at Anfield, and whilst another 5-3 scoreline is unlikely, five goals or more is a tempting bet.

Previews: Team news

Much analysis has been made of United’s underperforming stars and particularly that of Wayne Rooney. Anthony Martial should have recovered from concussion, but Luke Shaw reportedly played at Watford whilst carrying an injury.

Leicester are expected to be unchanged from their win over Burnley, with Jamie Vardy and Islam Slimani leading the attack.
