Turf Moor
Burnley welcome Premier League champions Leicester City to the fortress they built at Turf Moor for Tuesday’s Premier League action. The Clarets have ensured 25 out of 36 points available at home and have proved to be a formidable force to be dealt with at Turf Moor. Sean Dyche’s men are currently 10 points clear off the drop zone and seem like a safe bet for Premier League survival. They have picked up only one point on the road and came agonizingly close to ensure their second away point last week but was denied by a last minute penalty from Alexis Sanchez. Burnley forward Andre Gray had leveled the game in the injury time by scoring from the penalty spot against his boyhood dream club. But Arsenal were thrown a lifeline by referee Jon Moss when he awarded them a penalty in the final minute of injury time for a foul on Laurent Koscielny. Sanchez kept his cool and sent the ball to the net, scoring his 15th Premier League goal of the season. Earlier, Shkodran Mustafi scored his first Arsenal goal to give Arsenal the lead.
Leicester’s struggle for Premier League struggle continued when they were thrashed by Southampton last week. The Foxes are still winless in the league outside the King Power stadium and they were bettered by a Southampton side who had lost all of their past four games. James Ward-Prowse, Jay Rodriguez and Dusan Tadic all got their names on the score-sheet as the visitors did little to threaten them. There was no sign of urgency in Leicester’s game-play and they were rightfully punished for their lack of effort. The hammering at St. Mary’s saw Leicester match an unwanted record; they now have the joint worst return of 21 points from 22 games by a defending league champion. Ipswich in 1962/63 would have yielded the same if wins were counted as three points(two points back then).
PREDICTION
Burnley’s home record can only be bettered by three teams in the league-Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham. They have won six of their last seven Premier League games at home and should start as favorites against a side who are still winless on the road. We are counting on a Burnley win.
